Born barely nine months after the Boston Tea Party, Elizabeth grew up in New York City at the beginning of America's independence. A staunch Protestant, she held and fully enjoyed a position among the social elite until her life took a different path: one that would bring her and countless others to God. In this accessible biography, author Anne Merwin, former president of the Mother Seton House in Baltimore, reveals the life, personality, and radical holiness of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and her courageous determination to let God guide her, no matter what, as she blazed new trails and left a legacy of faith that continues to thrive in American Catholic schools.
