How are families called to follow Christ in the world today? Published in 1981 on the Solemnity of Christ the King, this apostolic exhortation of Pope John Paul II could well be considered one of the Magisterium's most comprehensive explanations of the nature of the family. Recognizing the difficulties faced by Christian families in the world today, John Paul II reaffirms the meaning and immense dignity of marriage and family life; considers contemporary challenges to family life; summarizes key elements of the theology of the body; and offers pastoral reflections for helping couples and families discover and embrace their vocation more fully. This special Anniversary Edition includes the full text of Familiaris Consortio with helpful commentary and discussion questions by John and Claire Grabowski, appointees to the Pontifical Council for the Family by Pope Benedict XVI, to guide you through this important apostolic exhortation.
