Discover how real people lived the Gospel through thirty inspirational stories of conversion, discipleship, and Christian witness. Saints Alive: The Gospel Witnessed combines the art of dramatic storytelling with biography, Church history, and Catholic teaching to show how the saints reveal the power of the Gospel. This collection of stories, creatively narrated by Sister Marie Paul Curley, FSP, and Sister Mary Lea Hill, FSP, bring the personalities and holiness of the saints to life in relatable, accessible, and inspiring ways. Each vignette is thoroughly-researched and highlights a particular aspect of the saint's life that brings the Gospel to life: from moments of conversion, to encounters in ministry, to experiences of suffering. These illuminating stories are supplemented with prayers, fact boxes, key biographical notes, lists of intriguing lesser-known facts, and powerful quotations from the writings of the saints. A "Reader's Guide" contains personal reflection and group discussion questions and ample references to the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, making this a unique and effective catechetical resource for OCIA (formerly RCIA) teachers and participants, adult faith formation groups, parish book clubs, and independent study. Saints Alive: The Gospel Witnessed features the stories of: Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys • Satoko Kitahara • Saint Patrick • Saint Clare of Assisi • Saint Benedict of Nursia • Venerable Pierre Toussaint • Saint Teresa of Ávila • Saint Katherine Drexel • Blessed Franz Jagerstätter • Saint Thomas More • Saint Philip Neri • Saint Peter Claver • Saint John Vianney • Venerable Matt Talbot • Blessed Victoria Rasoamanarivo • Saint Joseph Mukasa • Saint Charles Lwanga Blessed Teresa of Calcutta • Saint Rose of Lima • Saint Hildegard of Bingen • Saint Francis Xavier • Blessed James Alberione • Saint Joan of Arc • Saint Anthony of Padua • Saint Zita • Saint Pio of Pietrelcina • Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro • Saint Edith Stein • Blessed Manuel Lozano Garrido • Blessed Mary Elizabeth Hesselblad • Saint Mark the Evangelist

"I loved Saints Alive! A beautiful compendium of the amazing stories of the great heroes and heroines of our faith, combined with personal reflections and prayers (not to mention resources for group discussions and private meditation). It will serve a glorious introduction to those who have been raised to the 'glories of the altar.'"
James Martin, SJ, author of My Life with the Saints

"The holy men and women, whose lives are told throughout this book, witness to the fact that the word of God is alive and has the power to transform us. By discovering these saints, readers will learn how to embody Scripture, letting it enlarge their hearts and mold their lives into the image of Christ."
Stephen J. Binz, author of Threshold Bible Study, Lectio Divina Bible Study, and Conversing with God in Scripture

"Take a trip around the world with Saints Alive! The Gospel Witnessed (and its companion, Saints Alive! The Faith Proclaimed). This book is not just a true representation of the universality of the Church, but also a practical guide to living the Gospel. I always tell kids that the saints are good role models, that they are 'Gospel Artists', but often it's not easy to see how their lives have to do with what's in Scripture. These exciting stories of real people show that living the Gospel is possible and that we too can be saints who witness the Gospel through our day-to-day living."
